PATH: Numerous Ways You Can Support Those Experiencing Homelessness

Since 1983 PATH has been working to address the ever-increasing issue of homelessness. The group started by distributing food and clothing to people living on the streets. As homelessness continued to grow nationwide, research revealed that Housing First—a best practice model that first connects people to permanent housing and then focuses on stabilization through voluntary supportive services, proved more effective.

PATH helps people find permanent housing and provide case management, medical and mental healthcare, benefits advocacy, employment training, and other services to help them maintain their homes. Since 2013, they have connected more than 9,000 people to permanent homes and provide volunteers numerous ways to get involved.

Some of the opportunities available at PATH include:

  • Hosting a virtual workshop via Zoom

  • Creating kits for food for seniors, stay at home kits for families, or welcome home kits for new residents of PATH’s Metro Villas

  • Cooking for PATH residents either in a small group, up to 3 people, or as a volunteer on a weekly basis
