How We Began

Volunteer Collective was founded during the pandemic by Richard Foos and Rick Stoff as a way to stay connected while responding to community needs across Los Angeles.

In 2025, during the LA wildfires, Volunteer Collective became a hub for disaster response—mobilizing thousands of volunteers in support of relief efforts across the region.

Since then, we’ve continued to connect people with meaningful volunteer opportunities alongside nonprofit partners working on critical community challenges, from hunger and housing to education.

Today, our work is focused on two key initiatives; expanding efforts to alleviate hunger ahead of the LA Olympics, and creating purposeful volunteer pathways for high school and college students.
